Fusion Theatre Festival presents: 

FUSION COMISSION 2020

 

Fusion is proud to present a new artist development opportunity specifically for young artists in the East of England. The chosen applicant will receive a £1000 seed commission to go towards the development of a new original work. They will also receive bespoke mentoring from the Festival as well as in-kind support such as marketing. The applicant will perform the new work for the fifth edition of the festival in June 2020 alongside a diverse and vibrant programme happening across the city.

Fusion Festival will return in 2020 with a new Festival programme that seeks to champion and provide a platform for young people. We are looking for a young emerging artist/company from the East of England to develop a show for the festival’s 5th Edition in June 2020. This artist will be the first that the festival has supported in such a signifiant way with a  co-comission package  which includes:

  • £1,000 funding to support the development of the production

  • Bespoke mentoring from Fusion and relevant associates

  • A performance slot at the Fusion Festival re-launch in June 2020

  • In-kind marketing and  support with long-term strategic development  

DATES

  • Application Deadline: 6pm Friday 19th July 2019

  • Application Outcome: All applicants will be informed on Monday 22nd July 2019 whether their application has been successful or not

  • Performance date at Fusion Theatre Festival Cambridge 2020: June 2020 TBC

  • Applicants must be available for a meeting with Co-Artistic Directors of Fusion during this time 22nd - 28th July 2019

CRITERIA

  • Applicants must be aged between 18-30

  • Applicants must be based in the East of England

  • Applicants have created at least one   production in the past and have been operating as a company/artist for at least one  year.

  • Applicants can use the commission as match funding for funding proposals such as ACE Project Grants. Successful applicants will receive guidance on how to apply to ACE if they wish.

  • Has not yet been performed as a full length show. We will accept applications that present work at an early stage or have developed the work for scratch performances

  •  The performance must be completely original 

  • Must  fit one of these genres: Theatre, New Writing, Physical Theatre, Spoken Word, Comedy, Dance, Circus
